Art for me is an exploration, a listening for echoes and whisperings of the life within and around me. Sometimes meaning unfolds through a long struggle; other times its swift resolution leaves me gasping. I approach each drawing without intention or plan. I begin work, unfocussed, my hand moving back and forth across the page. I will the charcoal to take flight on its own, to loop or waver, restate or oppose.
I look for inner connections, visual subtleties, and existential possibilities. The results are often surprising and sometimes deeply satisfying. Riding the currents of chance rather than intention, I find in the drawings a subversive narrative, a half story that fires my imagination.
